$500,000 Grant Opportunity to Enhance School Safety

Premier Wireless is excited to share that the School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) grant is open. Funded by the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) of the US Department of Justice, this grant aims to provide support to local law enforcement, state law enforcement agencies, units of local government (e.g., counties, cities, school districts), public government agencies, and federally recognized Indian tribes and their public agencies.

Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students is essential. Unfortunately, schools often lack the funding necessary to implement these vital school safety measures.

As such, we are excited to share that the School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) grant is open.

SVPP funding will provide school safety measures in and around K-12 schools and school grounds for:

  • Coordination with law enforcement
  • Training for local law enforcement officers to prevent student violence against others and self
  • Metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other deterrent measures
  • Technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency
  • Any other measure that the COPS Office determines may provide a significant security improvement

SVPP award details:

  • $500,000 per award
  • 36 months
  • 25% match required

While a 25% cash match is required for each award, the benefits of enhancing school safety far outweigh the costs. Investing in proactive security measures protects students and staff and fosters a conducive learning environment where everyone feels safe and secure.
